Finding, Previewing, and Buying JamTracks
To find one of your favorite songs, start by going to the Find JamTracks page on the JamKazam website in your browser, currently in beta at https://beta.jamkazam.com/jamtracks. Or from anywhere in the JamKazam website in a desktop browser, you can simply click the Find JamTracks link in the left nav bar (see arrow in screenshot below).
If you're on a mobile phone, you'll need to click the menu icon in the upper left corner of the website next to the JamKazam logo (see arrow in screenshot below). This opens the nav bar menu, and you can tap the Find JamTracks link in this menu.
On the Find JamTracks page, simply type the name of an artist or a song you're looking for into the search box where indicated. We've typed "black" into the box (see screenshot below).
The search box displays up to 5 artists and 5 songs that match what you've typed. If you click on an artist in the list, you'll see a search results page with all the JamTracks we have by that artist. If you click on a song in the list, you'll see a search results page with just that one song. See page (screenshot below) with the results page when we select "Back In Black" by AC/DC from the list.
On the results page, you can click the blue, circular play icon next to the "Master Mix" in the Tracks column to hear a full-length recording of the complete JamTrack. You can also click the play icon next to any of the individual parts (e.g. Voice Lead, Drums, Bass Guitar, etc) to hear a 20-second sample of that one fully isolated part (stem). To see all the individual parts, click the blue "Show all tracks" text link.
If you like the JamTrack and would like to use it:
- If you haven't ever used a JamTrack from JamKazam before, we let you have your first JamTrack free, so that you can have a full JamTrack experience risk-free. In this case, the blue button in the Shop column will show as "Get It Free!". Click this button to get the free JamTrack.
- If you have already got your free one, each JamTrack you purchase after this is typically priced at US$2.99 each. In this case, the blue button in the Shop column will show as "Add To Cart". Click this button to add the JamTrack to your shopping cart (see screenshot below).
From the shopping cart page, you can click the white Continue Shopping button to go back to the Find JamTracks page to find and add more songs to your cart, if you're planning to buy multiple songs. Otherwise, you can click Checkout to move forward with your purchase (see screenshot below).
At the top of this page, start by entering your billing address information as you normally would for any online purchase, then scroll down to the Payment Method section (see screenshot below).
If you're paying by credit card, simply enter your card information, and then click the Confirm & Pay button. If you prefer to pay using PayPal, then select the PayPal option and click the Confirm & Pay button. If you selected the PayPal option, you'll likely be asked to sign into PayPal, and then you'll see another page (screenshot below).
You will need to click the Confirm & Pay button on this page to complete your PayPal purchase.
Whether you got your first free JamTrack or purchased one using a credit card or PayPal, you'll see a thank you page next (screenshot below).
From here, you can click the Open JamTrack button to start playing and using your JamTrack. You can also click the JamKazam desktop app link to download the JamKazam app if you want to have access to more advanced JamTrack features. Keep reading below to learn about the JamTrack features available in your browser.
Viewing and Working With Your JamTracks
To see and play with all of your JamTracks, start by going to the My JamTracks page on the JamKazam website in your browser, currently in beta at https://beta.jamkazam.com/my-jamtracks. Or from anywhere in the JamKazam website in a desktop browser, you can simply click the My JamTracks link in the left nav bar (see arrow in screenshot below).
If you own a lot of JamTracks, you can type in part of a song name or artist name to filter your list of JamTracks down to a short list. When you see the JamTrack you want to use, simply click the blue song name text, and you'll see a page packed with features for using this JamTrack (screenshot below).
Playing or Downloading a Custom Mix or Individual Part (Stem)
Let's say you play the bass guitar and you want to hear just the bass part of the song. Then you would click on the list box in the JamTrack Player (see screenshot below) and click on the "Stem: Bass Guitar" option. Or let's say you've created a custom mix (instructions on this in the next section of the help article) with only the drums and bass, then you would click on the "Custom Mix: Drums & Bass Only" option.
Once you've selected a stem (individual part) or a custom mix, to play it you simply click the blue play icon (see left arrow in screenshot below). Or to download this custom mix audio file (so you can use it on any device), you can click the download icon (see right arrow in screenshot below).
Making A Custom Mix
You'll likely want to create custom mixes at some point, to slow a JamTrack down for practice, or to mute the part you want to play (so you're not playing over the top of someone else on the same part), etc. To create a custom mix (using the Create a Mix feature), simply check the box on any individual part you want to mute (you can scroll the tracks list to see all the tracks), use the Tempo control if you want to make playback faster or slower, use the Pitch control if you want to change the key/pitch up or down, type a short, descriptive name of your mix, and then click the Create Mix button (see screenshot below).
Any custom mixes you create will be displayed in the My Mixes feature (see screenshot above), as well as in the JamTrack Player list box, when opened. Please note that your custom mixes are saved on JamKazam servers, and you can store a maximum of 5 custom mixes per JamTrack on our servers at any time. If you want to make more than 5 custom mixes for a single JamTrack, you'll need delete one of your custom mixes. To do this, click the blue trash can icon next to the custom mix to be deleted (see screenshot above).
