Before setting up your Behringer audio interface to work with the JamKazam app, you must first set it up to work properly with/on your Windows computer. To do this, you need to install a piece of software called a "driver" that was developed by Behringer. This software driver controls the operation of the audio interface hardware as it interacts with your Windows computer. Following are instructions on how to: (1) download the latest/greatest version of the software driver for your UMC202HD, and yes it's important that you use the latest version of the driver software; and (2) install the software driver on your Windows computer.
To get started, open your browser, and go to www.behringer.com. Click the Downloads link near the top of the page (pictured below with arrow).
You will now see the Downloads page on the Behringer website. Click the following options from left to right (pictured below with four arrows pointing down):
- In the Product Groups column, click the "Audio Interfaces" option.
- In the Main Categories column, click the "USB Audio Interfaces" option.
- In the Product column, click the "UMC202HD" option.
- In the Type column, click the "Drivers" option.
Under these options, you will now see a list of software drivers available for Windows. Click the blue download icon on the row that displays the current driver for Windows 10 (pictured below with arrow pointing right).
You will see the driver file downloaded through your browser in the way your browser typically downloads files from websites (pictured below with arrow). Click the download to open the file.
You now see a Windows folder open with two files. Double click the software driver installer application file to open the installer (pictured below with arrow).
You now see a Windows dialog asking what you want to do. Click the Run button to run the installer (pictured below with arrow).
You now see the first screen of the driver installer. Click the Next button (pictured below with arrow).
You now see the installer ready to run. Click the Install button (pictured below with arrow). At this point, you are likely to see a Windows prompt asking if you want to let the driver installer make changes to your Windows computer. Please answer "yes" to allow the installer to run.
After the installer has run, you now see an "Installation Complete" screen. Click the Next button (pictured below with arrow).
You now see the final screen of the installer. Click the Finish button (pictured below with arrow).
You now see a dialog box asking if you want to connect the audio interface later. Click the No button (pictured below with arrow).
You now see the last screen of the installer again. This time, connect your audio interface to your Windows computer using the USB cable included with your audio interface by Behringer. This completes the installation of the software driver. Once you have connected the audio interface, wait about 10 seconds, then click the Finish button again (pictured below with arrow).
You should now see the installer window close with no warning dialog box displayed. You have successfully installed the Behringer UMC202HD Windows software driver.
Your next step in the setup process is to configure your audio interface to work with the JamKazam application. Click here for instructions on how to start the audio setup wizard to do this.
