Before setting up your Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 audio interface to work with the JamKazam app, you must first set it up to work properly with/on your Windows computer. To do this, you need to install a piece of software called a "driver" that was developed by Focusrite. This software driver controls the operation of the audio interface hardware as it interacts with your Windows computer. Following are instructions on how to: (1) download the latest/greatest version of the software driver for your Scarlett 2i2, and yes it's important that you use the latest version of the driver software; and (2) install the software driver on your Windows computer.

To get started, open your browser, and go to https://focusrite.com/en. Click the Support menu link near the top of the page, and then click the Downloads menu option (pictured below with arrow).

You will now see the Downloads page. Select the following options in the pick lists (pictured below with three arrows pointing left):

  • In the "Pick your brand" list, select the "Focusrite" option.
  • In the "Pick your product by type" list, select the "Scarlett 2i2 3rd Gen" option.
  • In the "Pick your download for product by type" list, click the "Software" option.

Under these options, you will now see a "Software" section header. Click the white down arrow at the far right of this header block (pictured below with arrow pointing right).

You now see the Software section opened and visible. Click the Download button to download the Focusrite software for Windows (pictured below with arrow).

You will see the driver file downloaded through your browser in the way your browser typically downloads files from websites (pictured below with arrow). Click the downloaded file to open it. When you do this, you will likely see a Windows prompt asking if you want the Focusrite software to be able to update your Windows computer. Please click "Yes" to allow the Focusrite installer to run.

You now see the first screen of the Focusrite installer. Click the Next button (pictured below with arrow).

You now see the next screen of the Focusrite installer. Click the "I accept the agreement" radio button to accept the Focusrite software license terms. Then click the Next button (pictured below with arrow).

You now see the next screen of the Focusrite installer. Click the Next button (pictured below with arrow).

You now see the next screen of the Focusrite installer. Click the Install button (pictured below with arrow).

You now see the last screen of the Focusrite installer. Click the Finish button (pictured below with arrow). Please note that this will cause a restart of your computer, so before clicking the Finish button, you may wish to make sure you've saved any open files, etc.

When your computer restarts, you now see the Focusrite Control software application window displayed with the message "No Hardware Connected". Connect your audio interface to your Windows computer using the USB cable included with your audio interface by Focusrite. This completes the installation of the software driver.

When you have connected your audio interface to your Windows computer, you will see a dialog box displayed (pictured below). Click the "OK" button (pictured below with arrow).

You now see a Focusrite web page where you can register your purchased audio interface and set up a Focusrite user account. To be clear, this is optional and up to you. You do not need to do this at all in order to use your audio interface, either with or without the JamKazam app. So this is a matter of your own personal preference. You can register with Focusrite or simply close the browser window and move on.

After closing or minimizing the browser window, you'll again see the application window for the Focusrite Control software. You don't need to do anything with this application, so you can just click the "X" at the top right corner of this application window to close this app. If you don't see the application window, you can click the app icon for Focusrite Control (pictured below with arrow) to bring this application to the front.

You have now successfully installed the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 Windows software driver.

Your next step in the setup process is to configure your audio interface to work with the JamKazam application. Click here for instructions on how to start the audio setup wizard to do this.
